Why Product-led Growth (PLG)?
Because all the fast-growing products don't rely solely on marketing or sales to grow. Product-led growth is to leverage your product to acquire, activate, convert, retain, and monetize your user base. If done right, PLG is cost-efficient, scalable and has broad reach. In PLG, your product is not only the set of features that solve customer pain points but also your go-to-market (GTM) motion, your distribution and engagement channel. How I work with clients?
In my Growth Advisory practice, I work as a hands-on advisor for founders or leaders (typically VP Growth, Product, Marketing), usually holding weekly or biweekly meetings over a span of 6 to 12 months to discuss and strategize on critical initiatives. Beyond these regular meetings, I dedicate substantial time to conduct in-depth research, analysis, and strategic thinking for the client. Additionally, the team will have unlimited access to me via Slack or email for questions and follow-ups. This comprehensive approach ensures that I am fully prepared and available to support the client in driving successful outcomes.
My engagement starts with an onboarding and discovery phase, during which I learn about the company's growth objectives, business context and work with the team to identify the most significant growth levers. Then, we narrow down to 1 or 2 focus areas to dive deeper, where I guide the team through data analysis & research to uncover actionable insights.Then we design and launch experiments to drive key business metrics.
Through this process, I train the team on on growth frameworks and best-practices, helping them build growth infrastructure and tooling, so they are set up for repeatable successes on their own.
In addition to Growth Advisory, I also act as interim VP Growth, offer Growth Workshops (online or offline, suitable for whole company/team learning) and provide Growth Audit services (evalute growth infrastructure, strategy & team and uncover gaps and opportunties).
Why me?
I have over 10 years of deep operator experiences and track of record driving significant growth in both B2B and B2C product.
As former Head of Growth at GitLab, I helped establish the Product-led growth motion and contributed to the company's successful IPO. As former VP Growth at Acorns, I built a full-funnel growth team including product growth, user acquistion, CRM marketing and analytics, and helped scale the user base from 1M to 5M. Currently, I am an Executive in Residence at Reforge, teaching Advanced Growth Strategy and Experimentation course as a recognized expert, as well helping develop a new Product-led Growth Course. I am a growth advisor to VCs such as Lightspeed,Openview, A16Z, Mucker Capital, First Round Capital.
In my growth advisory practice, I strive for impacts. In 2022, since I transitioned to a full-time growth advisor, I was able to help a couple clients to:
